This Privacy Policy explains how MetisTools handles technical data, video links, cookies, advertising services and optional error monitoring when you use our online video player tools.

1. Information We Collect

MetisTools does not require user accounts. We do not ask for names, postal addresses, phone numbers or payment details to use the player tools. We may process limited technical and usage information through third-party services to understand website traffic, maintain site reliability, prevent abuse and improve our tools.

2. Video URLs

Video URLs entered into our M3U8, MP4 and DASH player tools are used in your browser for playback testing. We do not require you to upload video files or create an account. You should only test public or authorized video links and respect copyright, privacy and the source website’s terms of service.

We do not intentionally store submitted video URLs on our server. Playback diagnostics, copied reports and optional error monitoring are configured to filter source URLs before diagnostic data is shared outside your browser. Do not paste private, confidential or unauthorized video links into the tools.

Embed links may use a URL fragment so the stream address is read in the browser instead of being sent in the initial request to MetisTools. Playback requests still go directly from the viewer’s browser to the media source, and viewers may be able to inspect those requests.

3. Cookies, Local Storage and Advertising

We may use essential local storage to remember your optional error monitoring choice. We also use Google services, including Google Analytics and Google AdSense, for traffic measurement and advertising.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and manage personalized advertising through Google’s ad settings. Where required by applicable law, users in regions such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland may be shown Google-certified consent messages before personalized advertising is served.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Google Analytics to measure traffic and Google AdSense to serve advertisements. These third-party services may collect technical information such as browser type, device information, page paths, approximate location derived from network data and cookie or advertising identifiers according to their own policies and controls.

We do not control the cookies or identifiers used by third-party ad providers. You may review Google’s advertising and privacy controls in your Google account and browser settings.

We do not sell personal information. Third-party advertising and analytics providers process data according to their own policies and controls.

5. US State Privacy Choices

Some US state privacy laws may give residents rights to know, access, delete, correct or opt out of certain uses of personal information. MetisTools does not sell personal information for money. Advertising and analytics services may still be considered “sharing” or targeted advertising under some laws.

You can use browser privacy controls, Google advertising controls and any Google-certified consent or privacy messages shown on the site. Where applicable, we aim to respect recognized browser-level privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control when they are supported by the advertising or analytics services involved.

6. Children

MetisTools is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, please contact us so we can review the issue.

7. Optional Error Monitoring

We offer optional error monitoring through Sentry to help detect JavaScript errors, browser compatibility issues and player failures. This feature is disabled by default and only loads after you choose to allow it. If enabled, it may collect technical information such as browser type, device type, page path, error stack traces and limited interaction context for debugging.

Video URLs entered into the player tools are filtered before error data is sent. Session replay is disabled. You can keep optional error monitoring disabled and continue using all tools normally.

8. Data Retention and Deletion Requests

We keep only the limited information needed for analytics, advertising, security, debugging and site operation as handled by the third-party services described above. Retention periods may vary based on each service’s settings and policies.

If you contact us about privacy, deletion or data handling questions, we will review your request based on the information reasonably available to us. Because the tools do not require accounts, we may not be able to identify browser-only activity without details you provide.

9. European Advertising Consent

If advertising consent is required for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising consent should be handled through Google’s Privacy & messaging tools or another Google-certified consent management platform. The optional error monitoring choice on this website does not manage Google advertising consent.
